Pat & Bryan Heron

Heron Plumbing was founded by Bryan Heron as Governing Director.  This gave Bryan the opportunity to achieve his life principals and ideals with a sizeable percentage of the company’s turnover being returned to the community over the last 50 years.

Bryan and his firm are extremely proud to belong to Master Plumbers of which Bryan is a Life Member. It is through this association that he has trained more than 200 apprentices to a high standard to become qualified tradesmen, many of whom have gone on to form their own successful plumbing businesses. Dale Lovell was one of these apprentices and is now a business partner of Heron Plumbing, who has also been instilled with the community spirit of giving.

Heron Plumbing is involved with the work experience programme starting an average of 3 young people per annum from local schools and is a good supplier of apprentices for training to the Apprenticeship Training Trust.

Over the past 50 years Bryan and his company have helped many charities, sports clubs, marae, business groups, schools, music, art and social groups, Hospice and Heritage organisations. With an important focus on Surf Life Saving in the Northern Region as well as individual clubs on the West Coast, Orewa, and the Red Beach SLSC of which he is a Life Member.

Both the Trusts Stadium and Grandstand have benefited greatly through Heron Plumbing’s large sponsorship. This is the third stadium over 50 years that Bryan has been involved with, as it is home to the Waitakere Athletic Club of which he is Patron.

Winner of the Waitakere City Contributions to the Community Business Awards, Bryan points out that equal credit should also be given to his wife Pat. Bryan acknowledges that it is a great honour to be made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his community work with various clubs and organisations focussing on the youth. A man of enormous energy and inspiration to others, Bryan is not only known for providing funding and ideas but also for putting his organisational skills to the test.

Heron Plumbing Ltd will continue their vision of giving back to the community through their current commitments and expects to be involved in a variety of projects in the future.
